1. The public is invited to provide input in the search for a new Aiken County School District Superintendent due to the imminent retirement of Mr. King Laurence. Remaining Community Input Meetings are being held tonight (12/6), 7 p.m. at the District Office in the Board Room, 1000 Brookhaven Drive in Aiken AND at Wagener-Salley High School in the Auditorium. Let your voice be heard.
2. Gospel artist Rudy Currence will be the special guest artist for the "Jesus Is The Reason For The Season" Christmas concert this Saturday, 5 p.m., at the Ebenezer SDA Church, 1699 Olive Road in Augusta. Free admission.
3. Until Dec. 10th, Friendship Baptist Church of Aiken is collecting new or gently used sneakers, casual shoes, socks, and slippers, which will then be distributed to the needy on Dec. 16th. Drop off items at 515 Richland Avenue, East in Aiken. More details listed on the Community Calendar, umojavillage.com.
4. Umoja Village is seeking sponsors for our 3rd Annual Black History Month Community Celebration to be held Sunday, Feb. 4th, 3 p.m., Lessie Price Senior and Youth Center. Levels are $250, $500, $1000, and $2500. Sponsors help to keep ticket prices low at $15 so more of the community can afford to attend. Let me know if interested in sponsorship.
