SC Homeowner Rescue Program Remains Open-Now Offering Additional Financial Support to Previous Recipients.
SC Homeowner Rescue Program remains open, now offering additional financial support to previous recipients.
The SC Homeowner Rescue Program, South Carolina’s federally-funded emergency homeowner assistance program, remains open to applications until all funds are expended.
The program is leaving the door open for struggling homeowners to receive the help they need after already providing $99 million in mortgage and utility assistance to more than 15,000 families in South Carolina.
In addition to remaining open for new applications, existing SC Homeowner Rescue Program assistance recipients can also apply to receive a second set of assistance six months after they receive their initial payment.
“We know some South Carolina homeowners are struggling and we want to do everything we possibly can to provide them the assistance they need,” says Bonita Shropshire, executive director of SC Housing. “The SC Homeowner Rescue Program has been a great example of the support our state’s homeowners need and we’re excited to be able to continue to accept applications for the program, along with providing additional assistance to homeowners that have already participated in the program.”
Initiated as a temporary response in the wake of financial hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the SC Homeowner Rescue Program will continue to review all current and new applications until the funding for the program is exhausted.
SC Housing understands that there is still a need for mortgage and utility assistance in South Carolina, even as this temporary program winds down. We stand ready to provide every eligible homeowner with any available assistance as long as funds remain, so that we may serve our neighbors in need.
