Umoja is Swahili for Unity. In an effort to promote unity and to celebrate the greatness within us as a people, The Umoja Village Nonprofit Corporation is proud and pleased to present our celebration of the Black Excellence calendar series with 2023 serving as our inaugural calendar. For our first year, we are excited to present some of the Central Savannah River Area’s movers and shakers under 45. These individuals, “Shining Stars,” represent a host of amazing individuals and couples who are making notable contributions in the areas of civil and voting rights, education, business, youth mentorship community service, and rising stars in the legal/justice system.

Each year, Umoja Village will select a new theme to celebrate Black Excellence to salute everyday Blacks and African Americans who are blazing trails or have established a foundation on which we stand. We pray that these calendars will become collector’s items and reminders of how far we’ve come as a people as we press toward the mark of a higher calling.

Proceeds from the Umoja Village Celebrates Black Excellence calendar projects support the Umoja Village Resource Center and the overall mission of this God-inspired organization.
