1. You're invited to a town hall meeting this Monday, Aug. 7th, 7 p.m., to hear from all four Aiken County District 8 candidates: James Hankinson; PK Hightower; Brian Parks; and Michael Rozovich. Location: Second Baptist Church, 1151 York Street, NE in Aiken.

2. The Matthews Foundation presents "All That Jazz with Preston and Weston," Saturday, Aug. 12th, 4-6 p.m., at Aiken Senior Life Services, 1310 East Pine Log Road, Aiken. Event is a charity fundraiser for homeless and displaced Aiken County Public School children. Get tickets on Eventbrite or click link on the Umoja Village Community Calendar. Prices are between $10-$20.

Tickets are on sale for "Descended From the Promised Land: The Legacy of Black Wall Street," short documentary film, reception, and post-screening panel social change discussion to be held Sunday, Oct. 22nd, 2:30 p.m., at USC Aiken Etherredge Center. Get tickets at the Etherredge Center box office or click link on the Umoja Village Community Calendar. $10 students/senior citizens; $20 general public.  Sponsorship opportunities available.
