1. The Office of Voter Registration and Elections reports there will be a special election to fill the District 8 seat vacated by Aiken County Councilman Willar Hightower.  The filing period will be Friday, June 16th through noon on Saturday, June 24th.  The office will be open that day 9AM-noon.  The primary election will be August 15th, and the election date is Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023. Umoja Village Sunday, at Greater Faith Fellowship of Aiken, this past Sunday yielded the largest monthly contribution and matching since January 2022 -- $1,000 was collected and matched by GFF for a total of $2K invested in Umoja Village for May 2023. 5. In partnership with Umoja Village, Security Federal Bank's Financial Counseling Department recently conducted a workshop for 16 Umoja Village clients who expressed desires to improve their credit, debt consolidation, preparation for loans, budgeting, etc.
